this was one of the worst-managed ceremonies I've been to...they had tents set up that blocked the crowd...apparently so that the guests could be in the shade..
....normally I jump over the barrier to find a spot (not the main barrier but the one by the street to allow people to walk past ...i've jumped over many times even as the cop stands there and never been told it's not allowed...but this time officer Jordan said "get down" ...just a reflexive "NO" ...rather than a "WHY NOT" ..YET i noticed later on he was being much less restrictive with others.. ; kind of disappointed me because I've been doing this for years and am always respectful to the cops...and just get my pics and get out of there.. but you see in this day and age it's actually safer for cops to pick on so-called "white boys" than any other profile, because white boys can't accuse a cop of racism...the only problem is that I AM 48 YEARS OLD now ...not exactly a punk kid anymore.
...so I went to the end where I could barely see and mainly took pictures of the crowd more than anything else..;
...this black guy (right of the photo above) started off doing his job rather sternly when he first started showing up at these ceremonies, but he's gotten better lately...still does his job but doesn't provoke confrontations anymore.

THERE HE IS....officer Jordan ... ; I think he actually might be a decent guy, but these situations tend to create things out-of-the-norm. I wouldn't want to be the cop doing this job...walking back-and-forth telling people to "clear the area"... and then more show up ...repeat...and again... but then they end up allowing people to stand in the area they kept clearing anyways...so people get perplexed wondering why "those people are allowed" and we are not.. ; it's like the latecomers reap the fruits because the early people have worn the cops out...
finally Will Ferrell himself stepped up to the microphone but I really couldn't hear much at all of what he said..

The BEST part of the hollywood ceremony came AFTER I left...nice thing is that I can often make it to noon mass at blessed sacrament after these 1130am ceremonies
